The Ukrainian Defense Forces have carried out several successful counterattacks.
Ukrainian troops have advanced north of Korchakovka in the Sumy region, while units of the aggressor country, Russia, have failed to achieve any confirmed gains on any of the key fronts during two days of fighting.
The advance of the Defense Forces is confirmed by geolocated footage released on September 29. This was reported by the U.S. Institute for the Study of War (ISW).
“Ukrainian forces have recently advanced north of the city of Sumy,” the analysts’ report states.
Where Ukrainian Defense Forces Counterattacked the Russian Armed Forces
On September 29–30, the occupying forces continued their offensive operations in the north of the Kharkiv region, but analysts did not observe any changes to the line of contact in this sector. Ukrainian units there launched counterattacks.
A similar situation unfolded in the Kupiansk district, where the enemy attempted to break through the defenses for two days. The Russians made no headway, while Ukrainian forces launched their own attacks on enemy positions.
The Russian command’s main efforts in the Donetsk region were concentrated around two fortified cities. The occupiers attacked northeast of Slavyansk near Piskunovka and east of the city—in the direction of Mykolaivka—but were unable to advance.
A Russian military blogger also reported on the activity of Ukrainian troops: according to him, the Defense Forces launched counterattacks near Kalenika, east of Nikolaevka, and near Vasyutynske, east of Kramatorsk.
Ukrainian units also carried out counterattacks to the north and northwest of Konstantinovka.
