Lukashenko Called On The Military To Prepare For The “worst-case Scenario”

The dictator recalled the year 1941.

The Belarusian military must be prepared for “the worst-case scenario for us,” but must not “act aggressively.” Lukashenko set this task on October 13 at a meeting following an inspection of the combat and mobilization readiness of the 7th Separate Special Police Brigade of the Interior Ministry’s Internal Troops.

The dictator noted that the scenarios for a possible escalation “have been calculated by us” and are “known.”

“But we must not allow a new round of aggression. No one needs that today. There must be no actions on our part that could be interpreted as aggression,” Lukashenko said.

He recalled how, in 1941, “instructions were issued by the leadership to the Western Border District, including units stationed in Belarus, not to provoke or give the impression of any aggressive intentions on the part of the USSR, because the prevailing view was that there would be no war,” the dictator’s press service writes.

“Therefore, we really should not behave aggressively. That is true. But we must always be prepared for possible aggressive action on the part of our neighbors or through our neighbors’ territory… We must always be ready,” Lukashenko emphasized.

As a reminder, during a trip to the Minsk region on October 12 Lukashenko spoke about a war with Lithuania, Latvia, and Poland.
