Kash Patel arrived “to hold a meeting.”
The director of the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Kash Patel arrived in Russia for a meeting. This was reported by the American cable news channel MS NOW, citing two sources.
Reuters reached out to FBI representatives for comment. As of now, no official information has been received from the bureau regarding Patel’s arrival in Russia.
Earlier that day, the press secretary for Russia’s dictator Dmitry Peskov declined to comment on reports of a possible visit to the country by U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation Director Kash Patel. During a briefing, he noted that such visits are generally not announced in advance.
Politico reported back in July on Patel’s plans to visit Russia, citing a source. According to the publication’s source, the FBI director will first arrive in Moscow and then travel to St. Petersburg. He is expected to meet with representatives of the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) while in Russia.
Prior to this, two U.S. congressmen expressed concern over Patel’s efforts to foster closer cooperation between the FBI and law enforcement agencies in Russia and China. According to *The Atlantic* magazine, they called on Patel to cancel his planned trip to Russia.
