Alexander Khatskevich Spoke Out About The Situation In Belarus

A Belarusian soccer legend shared a personal story.

Legendary Belarusian soccer player and star of Kyiv’s “Dynamo” Alexander Khatskevich said that he has been unable to visit the country since 2020 and shared a personal story:

“It will soon be two years since my mother passed away. She was the person closest to me. And even today, I can’t visit her grave. I don’t know which is worse: the war or the situation that has developed today—not just for me, but for many Belarusians who left the country after 2020.

It’s very hard to talk about this. But that’s life today—the realities are very harsh. Yet we must go on living and remember what we still have. And that is our memory,” said Khatskevich.

Earlier, in an interview with the website Charter97.org, Alexander Khatskevich explained the secret behind the Ukrainian resistance, highlighted the differences in the mentalities of Belarusians and Ukrainians, assessed the state of Belarusian soccer, and responded to sports stars who have remained silent about the war in Ukraine.
