Arctic Air Is Moving Into Belarus

Forecasters have shared what the weather will be like in November.

The period of warm October weather is coming to an end in Belarus. As early as the beginning of November, temperatures across the country will begin to drop: the wind will shift to the north, and air masses of Arctic origin will move into the region. Temperatures will gradually return to seasonal norms, and in the second half of the first week of November, rain will turn to wet snow in some areas, according to Belhydromet.

According to the weather forecast, on the night of November 1, temperatures will range from -1 to +6 °C, and during the day from +4 to +10 °C. The cold snap will continue in the coming days. By the end of the first ten days of the month, it will become another 2–3 degrees colder.

Despite high atmospheric pressure, November will not be entirely dry. As weather fronts pass through and moist air moves in, rain will fall from time to time. In the second half of next week, precipitation will become mixed in some areas—rain will alternate with wet snow. Residents of northeastern Belarus are most likely to see the first snowflakes.

However, a sustained snow cover is not expected just yet. Due to daytime warming, any snow that falls will melt quickly.

According to the preliminary forecast, the average temperature in November 2026 across Belarus is expected to be near the climatological norm—ranging from +0.3 to +3.4 °C. At the same time, the first ten days of the month will be colder than usual: the negative temperature anomaly could be around 1 °C. Precipitation is forecast to be within the range of long-term averages—from 38 to 59 mm.

For comparison, the average November temperature in Belarus for the period 1991–2020 was +1.6 °C. However, in some years, the figures deviated significantly from the norm. November 1996 was the warmest, with a monthly average temperature of +4.9 °C—3.3 degrees above normal. The coldest was November 1993: at that time, the average temperature dropped to -6.1 °C, which is 7.7 degrees below the climate norm.

November’s temperature records are also impressive. The highest temperature on record was recorded in 1926 at the Mozyr weather station—the air warmed up to +24.1 °C. The coldest temperature was recorded in 1992 at the Ezerishche station: the temperature dropped to -27.4 °C.
