Mikhail Zvinchuk

The leader of "The Fisherman" had drones with him.

The founder of the Russian propaganda Telegram channel “Rybary” Mikhail Zvinchuk was detained in Montenegro. According to the publication Vijesti, which cites sources in law enforcement, drones, digital equipment, and electronic devices were found in his possession and that of his colleagues.

According to Vijesti, Zvinchuk was detained by officers from the Tivat Security Department and the National Security Agency in the Bay of Kotor area. His wife and three colleagues from the Russian news network “Rybary” were also taken into custody. According to the publication’s sources, the detainees were found in possession of drones, sophisticated digital equipment, and electronic devices. They are currently undergoing legal proceedings.

Vijesti claims that Montenegrin intelligence services knew of Zvinchuk’s arrival in advance and had been monitoring him for several days while he was already in the country.

The “Rybary” project confirmed the detention of Zvinchuk and his colleagues. According to the project, the Russians were in Montenegro legally and were planning to film the Cetinje Monastery. Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova stated that the Russian Embassy in Montenegro is investigating the circumstances of the detention.

According to Vijesti, Zvinchuk is subject to British sanctions, and in the U.S. he is suspected of interfering in the American elections. Montenegro and the U.S. have an extradition treaty in place.
