Senator Richard Blumenthal was the one who initiated it.

The U.S. Congress has called on Trump to resume aid to Ukraine
The initiative will be led by Senator Richard Blumenthal.

The U.S. can and must resume military aid to Ukraine as soon as possible and also strengthen sanctions against Russia.

This was stated by Democratic U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal, according to "RBC-Ukraine" citing his post on X.

The politician emphasized that the results of the U.S. election have helped bring the issues of Ukraine and its defense back into the spotlight.

According to Blumenthal, he plans to take advantage of this moment and introduce a special bill in the U.S. Congress. If his initiative gains support, Ukraine will once again be able to receive military aid from the U.S., which was blocked by President Donald Trump.

In addition, the senator, along with other Democrats, intends to press the White House to impose “severe sanctions” against Russia, as well as to reinstate restrictions that had been suspended.

“We must put an end to Trump’s despicable diesel fuel deal, provide military aid (to Ukraine—ed.), particularly in the area of air defense, and take additional measures to demonstrate the necessary support and force Putin to the negotiating table for a genuine peace,” Blumenthal emphasized.

Furthermore, the senator intends to demand that Trump replace his special representatives on Ukraine and Russia.

“U.S. President Donald Trump needs new negotiators—not subservient puppets who call this brutal murderer a ‘humanitarian,’” the Democrat said, referring to the controversial statement by Steve Whitcroft.

Blumenthal also intends to push for Congress to establish oversight over the use of Starlink and Starshield in the public interest, as these systems play a crucial role for both U.S. national security and that of its allies, particularly Ukraine.
