Polish counterintelligence officers detained a defense official working for Russia.
The district court in Poland's Zamość has considered the case of an employee of the republic's defense ministry suspected of espionage and involvement in organizing an assassination attempt on Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky. This was reported by a representative of the coordinator of the Polish security services Jacek Dobrzynski in the social network X.
It became known earlier that Polish counterintelligence officers detained a defense official suspected of working for Russian intelligence.
Dobrzynski said that the 50-year-old resident of the town of Grubieszow was ready to act in the interests of foreign intelligence against Poland.
Pavel K. expressed a desire to join the structures of Russian military intelligence and perform intelligence tasks. The man was supposed, in particular, to transmit information about the operation of the Rzeszów-Jasieńka airport. According to Dobrzynski, establishing Pavel's plans helped prevent an attempt on Zielenski's life.
Also last October, it was reported that officers of Poland's Internal Security Agency detained 55 people for acting in the interests of Russian intelligence.
