Budanov Names Unexpected Consequence Of Drone Strikes On Russian Oil Depots
Kirill Budanov

There is a point more important than the loss of oil earnings.

Drone strikes on Russia's oil infrastructure hit not only its wallet - the country's very reputation as a supplier of raw materials is in question.

According to RBC-Ukraine, the head of the Presidential Office Kirill Budanov said this at the 18th Kiev Security Forum.

When asked how to assess the damage from the strikes of "unknown good drones" - in dollars, in a drop in production or in broken contracts, Budanov said that the third point is the most important.

"Everyone has heard the official data from the president, I confirm it. But unfulfilled contracts are much more interesting," Budanov said.

Reputation blow will remain for a long time

Budanov said the main thing is not money or production volumes.

The main thing is Russia's image as a state that can fulfill its obligations.

"Russia will receive an image blow. This is the most important thing. The oil price is still somehow balancing, the war will end - it will still stabilize. But the image blow will work for a very long time," the head of the OP explained.

Budanov called an unexpected consequence of drone strikes on Russian oil depots

Russia as a reliable supplier capable of delivering raw materials to buyers on time is called into question. According to Budanov, this is what will have long-term consequences.

What this means in practice

Broken contracts are:

loss of confidence on the part of buying countries;

reputational losses that are not compensated after the war is over;

signal for Russia's partners to look for alternative suppliers.
