Media First Told About Three Wounds Of Budanov

Colleagues claim that the head of the GUR asked the twins to "leave him alone."

The head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Kyryl Budanov, as a military intelligence officer, was wounded three times. About it writes "Babel" in a great piece about the new head of the OP.

First - in early March 2015, during an operation of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine in the occupied part of Donbass. His group tried to destroy the occupiers' REB complex, but the Russians took him to another place. On their way back near Gorlovka, Donetsk region, the scouts came across a minefield. Three fighters, including Budanov, were wounded - shrapnel hit him in the neck and shoulder blade. Colleagues say he asked his brothers to "leave him alone."

"We bandaged him up, examined him, taped up the wound, gave him painkillers, lifted him up and went ... We could not get the fragment out of his neck. Later in Dnipro they performed surgery," recalls one of the military men.

The second wounding "Babel" describes without circumstances, noting that it occurred on the birthday of his wife Marianna.

"He calls me, and I hear - there is some noise in the background. I said, "Have you started celebrating my birthday?" And he laughs and says so lightly that he's been wounded and is being taken to the hospital. He jokingly counted whether all his fingers were in place," she recalled.

In December 2016, during another mission, Budanov was wounded for the third time - the bullet shattered the elbow of his right hand. He was rehabilitated in one of the best military hospitals in the United States - Walter Reed National Military Medical Center. Treatment was paid for by the American side, food and lodging - by private donors. He arrived at the American hospital only six months after he was wounded.

Budanov's relatives and colleagues claim that he has not been wounded since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, as Russian propaganda wrote about it. He and his wife met the big war at the GUR, not included in the narrow circle of those who survived the first weeks of the invasion in hiding with the president.

In March 2022, the Russians attacked with a missile the Defense Ministry's GUR headquarters in Kiev, where Budanov was in a meeting.

"After a powerful explosion that deafened those present, he checked if his wife was OK, shook off the dust and went outside to look at the damage and debris," eyewitnesses told reporters.
