Andrzej Poczobut Met His Wife

Ex-political prisoner, journalist, leader of the Union of Poles in Belarus Andrzej Poczobut met with his wife. Oksana Poczobut published a photo from the hospital, where Andrzej is currently being examined.

"Morning in a Warsaw hospital. The best of all possible mornings," she wrote.

Reminder, Andrzej Poczobut was released from prison as a result of exchange on the Belarusian-Polish border by the formula "five for five".

In February 2023, a court in Hrodna sentenced Andrzej Poczobut to 8 years in colony under articles on inciting hatred (part 3 of article 130 of the Criminal Code) and calls for actions aimed at harming national security (article 361-3 of the Criminal Code).

Andrzej was placed several times in the penal colony in Novopolotsk. In detention, he lost a lot of weight and underwent surgery to remove ulcers on his skin. In October 2025, he received the Sakharov Prize in absentia, and in November he received Poland's highest award, the Order of the White Eagle.

In 2024, Andrzej Poczobut became an honorary citizen of Warsaw.
