"Lukashenko Is Trying To Make Excuses."

A Ukrainian officer shared his version of the exchange on the Polish-Belarusian border.

SBU Major General in Reserve Viktor Yagun believes that it was the Kremlin that could have forced Lukashenko to make the five-for-five exchange on the Belarusian-Polish border, which resulted in the release of journalist and leader of the Union of Poles in Belarus Andrzej Poczobut. The Ukrainian officer said in an interview with Charter97.org:

- I think that indeed the coordination was going through the Kremlin. But Lukashenko was a very serious screen. At the same time, he still had his own interests. First, it was about the Belarusian agent, who was returned by Poland. Secondly, Lukashenko is trying to justify himself. I have an interpretation of the exchange from Lukashenko's regime. It says very interestingly: "We don't throw our own, we have our man, but instead we gave this extremist, adventurer, nationalist - this Andrzej Poczobut - to Poland, and let him live there in Poland".

This rhetoric is needed to show that we were the main ones in this whole process. This is how it looks in the statement of Lukashenko's regime, although by and large it is clear that Russia was behind their back. And this scientist, this adventurous woman from Moldova and her agent from Moldova were important to Russia. And then Russia gave away two officers of Moldovan special services. It was Moscow's game.
