The U.S. president is not pressuring the Kremlin over Iran.
The European Union believes that the US should increase pressure on Russia over its support for Iran. However, European representatives say there are no signs of such pressure following US President Donald Trump's recent conversation with Vladimir Putin.
The EU high representative Kaja Kallas said this at a joint press conference with the foreign ministers of the North Baltic Eight countries in Estonia, unian.net reports.
She said that negotiations on peace in Ukraine have actually stalled. Kallas noted that after the phone contacts between Trump and Putin, many unclear points remain, especially against the background of Moscow's statements in support of Iran's actions.
She also wondered whether this means that the US is really increasing pressure on Russia over its cooperation with Iran.
Kallas emphasized that the EU would like to see a tougher stance from Washington, but no such steps have been seen so far after the leaders' conversation.
