Axios has revealed the details.

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio and White House envoy Steve Whitkoff met with Qatari Prime Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman al-Thani in Miami on Saturday as part of talks to end the war with Iran. This is reported by Axios, citing knowledgeable sources.

As the publication points out, the US and Iran are negotiating a memorandum to end the war and lay the groundwork for more detailed talks. Meanwhile, while Pakistan has been the official mediator between the US and Iran since the war began, Qatar has also played a key role in mediating between the sides, and according to US officials, the White House considers them particularly effective in the talks.

It is reported that Al Thani had met with US Vice President J.D. Vance in Washington the previous day. He was supposed to return to Doha immediately, but changed his plans and traveled to Miami. While there, he called the Saudi foreign minister to discuss mediation efforts.

Sources said the meeting focused on a way to reach a memorandum of understanding to end the war. Meanwhile, one of the sources said Qatar, Pakistan, Egypt, Turkey and Saudi Arabia are working in tandem to reach an agreement.

"The mediators are urging both sides to de-escalate and focus on reaching an agreement."

At the same time, as of midday Saturday, the US was still awaiting Iran's response to the memorandum, Axios noted.
