The driver and loader of a garbage truck from Slutsk told about unusual finds and situations during their work. Among them is a story about a citizen who accidentally threw into the garbage 5000 dollars and 3000 euros, hidden by his wife in the closet. The money could not be found after that, writes "Minsk truth".
The driver of the garbage truck Vladimir Kravchenko has been working in the KUP "Slutsk Housing and Communal Services" for 11 years. His working day begins around half past six in the morning. During the shift he drives up to 100 kilometers and makes dozens of stops in yards, private sector and near organizations.
According to the driver, the main problem on the routes - parked cars, because of which it is often difficult for the garbage truck to approach the containers.
"Forty percent of our trucks are parked violators," says Vladimir.
In the past, in such cases, we had to call the traffic police, now the utility workers more often just change the route and come back later.
At the same time, employees of the housing and utilities complain that some residents leave garbage near the containers, which regular garbage trucks are not designed to remove. During a trip through the private sector Vladimir showed an old door lying among the bags of waste.
"Well, where are we going to take it? People throw out a bucket full of construction waste: concrete, stones, blocks - it's hard for a loader to lift it alone. Cars break down, because the special equipment is not designed for such things," he explained.
With Vladimir, the loader Leonid Petrov, who has been working in the housing and utilities sector since the early 1990s, goes out on trips. Several tons of waste pass through his hands during a shift, and among the finds over the years were dangerous things, such as bottled acid.
"We loaded the garbage, and inside we saw a bottle with acid, it broke, everything flowed down the body, began to eat the paint, hissing. We had a good scare then. Our garbage trucks burned in winter because people threw out ashes and smoldering coals. The car was driving, smoke from the back, flames. The driver would not reach the landfill, unloaded directly on the snow in the field," - said the communal worker.
But there are also curiosities:
"Once the seller threw in the garbage package with lotteries - several packs. Well, we showed at the dump where the pile was, the seller and the manager spent two hours combing - they found it. And another case: the wife hid the money in the closet - 5000 dollars and 3000 euros - and the husband threw out the bottles. They were looking for it later, but they didn't find it.
And Vladimir recalled another case:
"Here I was traveling for two weeks in a row - a two-bed mattress, construction debris, most likely, they are making repairs. Then one day I arrive for loading, and they promise me a complaint: "Take the mattress, or I will call Minsk. Immediately to 115".
