Americans didn't use personal cell phones.
During a visit to China, the U.S. delegation refused to use personal cell phones because of heightened cybersecurity risks. Their devices were stored in special Faraday protective cases aboard Air Force One, which block communication signals including GPS, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and RFID. This is reported by New York Post.
It is noted that such measures are due to increased digital security requirements. With the growth of cyber threats, including those using artificial intelligence, states and companies are increasingly applying stricter data protection protocols.
According to the publication, the restrictions affected the entire U.S. delegation. The trip participants used "clean" disposable phones with minimal functionality and no personal information.
It is also reported that US President Donald Trump was forced to limit the use of his personal smartphone during the visit. The White House confirmed that he did not use his device on the trip, and Truth Social posts were allegedly posted from Washington.
American journalist Emily Goodin, who covered the visit, said on social network X that before boarding Air Force One, representatives of the delegation allegedly got rid of a number of items received from the Chinese side.
