It's the first time that's ever happened.
Sunday flight from Moscow airport "Vnukovo" to Homel on May 17 underwent changes: Belavia Embraer plane failed to land at Homel airport - according to the schedule it was supposed to happen at 16:20. After reaching Belarus, it began to circle in Mahiliou voblast near Slavgorod, stayed there for about 35 minutes and was eventually sent to Minsk.
On the morning of May 18, neither Belavia, nor Belaeronavigatsia, a branch of which is Homel airport, did not explain the causes of the incident. But they were found out by "Flagstaff".

According to the source, the plane could not land in Homel because of the drone danger. This information was also confirmed by passengers on the flight. One of them wrote in Threads:
"There was a drone attack, as it was explained to us."
Other users reported that a military plane was flying over Gomel at the time.
The incident with the Belavia flight occurred just at the beginning of another Russian drone attack on Ukraine. The first Russian UAVs appeared over Chernigov region, which borders Gomel region, at 15:50 on Sunday.

Soon monitoring channels reported about 4 groups of Russian drones in Chernigov region. However, no violations of Belarusian airspace by drones were recorded by the monitors.
Neither Russian nor Ukrainian sources reported Ukrainian drone attacks that day.
How the passengers of the plane were transported from Minsk to Gomel, the carrier also has not yet informed and publicly apologized for the inconvenience. But passengers said in social networks that they were sent to Homel by bus after a 3-hour wait in Minsk.
