Drones Hit Nevinnomyssky Azot For The Second Time In A Row

The attack on a strategic chemical plant in Russian Federation lasted for hours on end.

On the night of May 20, Ukrainian drones again attacked the Nevinnomyssky Azot chemical complex in Russia's Stavropol Region. A fire broke out in the industrial zone of the city. This is the second attack on the enterprise in recent days, the first one took place on Saturday, May 16.

This was reported by RBC-Ukraine with reference to OSINT-channels and Telegram of Nevinnomyssk city mayor.

What's going on

"Drone danger" in the entire Stavropol region was announced the night before. Residents of Nevinnomyssk were urged to leave the streets and take shelter in windowless rooms.

At midnight, the city turned off the internet.

The head of Nevinnomyssk, Mikhail Minenkov, confirmed the attack, reporting "anti-air combat" and that "the raid by enemy drones is targeting the city's industrial zone."

As of 5 a.m., the attack was still ongoing, with air defenses operating in the locality. Residents reported a fire in the industrial zone.

Why it matters

Nevinnomyssky Azot officially specializes in the production of fertilizers and household chemicals. However, according to OSINT analysts, the company actually works for the Russian military-industrial complex: acetic acid produced here is supplied to a plant in Dzerzhinsk, where it is used to make explosives for artillery shells.

The media previously reported on the first drone attack on Nevinnomyssky Azot on May 16.
