Trump has chosen to be a supporter of some of his views.

Former CIA officer Aaron Lucas will become the acting director of US National Intelligence after Tulsi Gabbard resigned.

This is according to Bloomberg.

American President Donald Trump announced on May 22 that Lucas will replace Gabbard as director of National Intelligence in an acting capacity.

It is noted that Lucas shares some of U.S. President Donald Trump's most ardent beliefs, particularly regarding intelligence agencies being "infected" with the ideology of "political correctness."

During his confirmation hearings for Deputy Gabbard last year, Lucas warned that the U.S. intelligence community, made up of 18 agencies, had become "aimless, bloated, risk-averse and at times disconnected from the core mission of intelligence."

He praised Trump and Gabbard for "shedding the toxic political dogma of diversity, equality and inclusion, which at best was a distraction and at worst pitted intelligence officials against each other."

After working as an analyst at the Cato Institute, Lucas joined President George W. Bush's administration in 2002 as chief speechwriter in the office of U.S. Trade Representative Robert Zoelick. During Trump's first term, he served on the National Security Council.

As for the rest of his career, he said in testimony before the Senate that "for the past 20+ years, I have worked as a CIA operative in the shadows, never drawing attention to my real work, staying off social media and being active on the front lines of intelligence."

Subsequently, he was chief of staff to Richard Grenell, Trump's former ambassador to Germany, when he served as acting director of national intelligence.
