Odessa is no longer a "Russian city."
One of Russia's leading propagandists Vladimir Solovyov has unexpectedly said on the air of his program that Russia no longer needs Odessa. According to him, there are supposedly "no more Russians left" in the city, which means he sees no point in its "return," Ukrainian blogger Denis Kazansky noted.
With this statement, Russian federal propaganda has effectively recognized that the Russian army is incapable of capturing major Ukrainian cities, including Odessa. Instead of the previous rhetoric about "liberation," Solovyov called for the rejection of any sympathy for the inhabitants of Ukrainian cities.
He said Russia should not "pity" Ukrainians because it views them as enemies.
The anchor also effectively acknowledged the indiscriminate nature of Russian strikes on Ukrainian territory, saying that "bombs have no eyes."
In addition, Solovyov rejected one of the key theses of Russian propaganda about the need to "protect Russian speakers." He said that Russia supposedly "does not need Ukraine" and that its citizens are enemies already because they support its army and pay taxes to the state.
