The young men were operating as part of an online hacking group.

Three young men believed to be responsible for a false report of a fire in an apartment belonging to the family of President Karol Nawrocki have been detained in Poland.

It was reported by RMF24.

On May 27, Interior Minister Marcin Kerwiński announced that three people had been taken into custody in connection with a false report of a fire in Nawrocki's apartment.

He noted that they were individuals in their early 20s who had already been in trouble with the law.

"Everything points to the fact that this is a well-organized group of young people who "for the sake of fame" or personal pleasure, not for ideological reasons, have already committed similar acts in the past," said for his part Prime Minister Donald Tusk.

Unofficially, journalists learned that the detainees are 19-20 years old, they acted together as part of an online group that engaged in hacking attacks, sending out similar fake alerts and the like. The investigation believes that the main motive behind the act was to have fun, as well as to destabilize the situation.

"They enjoyed watching the chaos they were creating with their actions, and were excited to see the reactions at the highest levels of government and the clashes between the two sides of the political spectrum," shared an unnamed interlocutor involved in the investigation.

We recall that on May 23, an unknown person via the Alarm 112 app informed the services about a fire and then about a threat to the life of a minor in what turned out to be the family apartment of Nawrocki.

The District Prosecutor's Office in Gdańsk opened a criminal case over the false report.
