Hungary's New Magyar-led Government Took The Oath Of Office

After being sworn in, Magyar made his first speech in Parliament.

The new Hungarian government headed by Peter Magyar, leader of the hitherto opposition Tisza, took the oath of office and officially begins work.

After the oath of office, Magyar delivered his first speech to parliament.

He noted that the new government has received a mandate from the Hungarian people to open a new chapter in the life of the country, that Hungary now aspires to a freer, more humane, more hopeful era, and that the new government promises to make what unites us stronger than what divides us.

The square in front of parliament is said to be completely filled with people who have come to mark the end of the "Orban era".

Before that, the inaugural session of parliament elected the speaker of the legislature; one of her first decisions was to return the EU flag to the building.

According to a recent poll, 64% of Hungarians expect Magyar to improve relations with Ukraine.
