The Afipsky Oil Refinery In Russia Has Been Attacked: There Is A Major Fire And Heavy Smoke At The Site

It could have been a missile attack.

On the night of June 11, the Krasnodar Krai region of the Russian Federation was attacked by drones, resulting in damage to the Afipsky Oil Refinery. A major fire broke out at the site.

This was reported by Charter97.org citing OSINT sources.

Despite the drone threat in the region, social media users speculate that it was a missile strike. In a video filmed by eyewitnesses, sirens and explosions can be heard, followed by a fire breaking out. In addition to a bright flash, black plumes of smoke are visible in the footage—likely from burning oil tanks.

There are currently no comments regarding the emergency on the official channel of Krasnodar Krai Governor Veniamin Kondratyev. However, local Telegram channels have already reported on both the air raid alert and the explosions near the oil refinery.

It should be noted that this is far from the first time the Afipsky Oil Refinery has been attacked by drones. According to media reports, the plant was struck by drones and missiles, specifically in November and December of last year, as well as in March 2026.

The Afipsky Oil Refinery is one of Russia’s largest oil refineries, located in the village of Afipsky in the Krasnodar Krai, approximately 20 km from Krasnodar.

The facility is part of the Safmar Group owned by Russian businessman Mikhail Gutseriev. The plant processes about 6.25 million tons of crude oil per year and produces gasoline, diesel fuel, fuel oil, and other petroleum products.

As previously reported, after the start of full-scale war the Afipsky Refinery has repeatedly been targeted by drones due to its importance for fuel supplies to the Russian economy and military logistics. The plant is also a key component of the oil refining infrastructure in southern Russia.
