Russia Is Asking Kazakhstan For 50,000 Metric Tons Of Gasoline

The Ukrainian Armed Forces have left the "gas station country" without fuel.

Russia is in talks with Kazakhstan regarding the supply of 50,000 metric tons of AI-92 gasoline. This was reported by Reuters on Wednesday, June 24, citing four industry sources. The talks are taking place against the backdrop of restrictions on fuel sales in Russia following Ukrainian strikes on Russian oil refineries.

Gasoline production in Russia had fallen by 25 percent year-over-year by the end of June, Reuters notes. At the same time, fuel production in Kazakhstan is relatively low compared to Russia, so supplies to the Russian side are unlikely to reach significant volumes, the agency’s sources note. According to their data, there is currently a surplus of gasoline in the Central Asian country, but scheduled maintenance at the Atyrau refinery in June and July will reduce the volume of available reserves.
