Defense Express: Ukraine 'trashed' $400m Russian Ship With $55k Drone

Interesting details have emerged about the defeat of the corvette "Boyky" at Kronstadt.
The Russian Baltic Fleet's project 20380 "Boyky" corvette has suffered critical damage after being hit by a Ukrainian FP-1 long-range drone. Analysts estimate that the attack effectively means its destruction, writes Defence Express.
New video footage of the ship fire that struck the Kronstadt Naval Plant dry dock on June 3 showed the extent of the devastation immediately after the attack - even before active extinguishing began. This, it is noted, allowed a more accurate assessment of the initial state of the damage.
The released materials show that the corvette's tower-mast structure collapsed inside the hull. It housed the ship's key radio-electronic systems, in particular:
Furke-2 surveillance radar;
Monument-A targeting radar;
MR-231-2 navigation radars;
TK-25 electronic warfare system.
The collapse of the structure also damaged elements of the launchers of the Kh-35 anti-ship missiles of the Uran complex.
The fire, according to observation data, engulfed the inner rooms behind the wheelhouse, which is where the ship's weapons and systems control stations are located.
Probable damage to the engine room
The analysts pay special attention to the fact that the fire was also recorded in the area under the bridge, where the crew's living quarters are located. In addition, deformations are visible in the hull, which may indicate an internal explosion.
Damage also affected the area where the Packet-NK system, the 324-mm anti-torpedo 324-mm apparatuses located near the engine room, is installed. This probably means that the fire could have engulfed the ship's main diesel power plant.
Witnesses said that 4-5 hydrants were involved in the firefighting effort, but at the time the extinguishing began, the fire was already actively developing inside the hull.
Experts note that prolonged high temperature leads to loss of metal strength, and subsequent flooding with water - to accelerated corrosion, which makes the restoration of the ship extremely problematic.
A Ukrainian FP-1 long-range drone worth about 55 thousand dollars reportedly struck the ship. At the same time, the cost of the Project 20380 corvette as of 2021 is estimated at 350-400 million dollars.
The drone traveled more than 900 kilometers to the target, after which, as analysts emphasize, the ship was actually disabled with critical damage that equates to the complete destruction of the combat unit.
