Drones have launched another attack.

Overnight, drones once again struck the Chongar Bridge — the only short road connecting Crimea to the mainland. Traffic has been blocked, and the occupying authorities are urging drivers to take a detour.

This was reported by RBC-Ukraine citing an advisor to the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense Serhiy Sternenko and a post by the Russian-appointed Gauleiter of the occupied part of the Kherson region Vladimir Saldo.

What happened to the bridge

According to the occupiers’ report, on the night of June 9, drones struck the Chongar Bridge—a crossing over the Sivash Bay that connects Crimea with mainland Ukraine.

Traffic on the bridge is blocked. Relevant services are on site.

“I ask drivers to use alternative routes via Armiansk and Perekop,” Saldo wrote.

Defense Ministry adviser Sergey Sternenko writes that the Defense Forces have launched a second strike on the Chongar Bridge, which leads to Crimea.

As a result of the attack, traffic has been completely blocked.

According to Saldo, the occupying air defense forces intercepted more than 20 drones approaching the bridge.

Why Chongar is so important

The Chongar Bridge is the shortest and most convenient route between Crimea and the mainland. The occupying forces used it to transport equipment and ammunition from the peninsula to the southern front.

The alternatives—routes through Armyansk and Perekop—are longer and more logistically complex.
