A Car Exploded In A Military Housing Complex Near Moscow

Early in the morning on June 9, a car exploded in the Aviatorov neighborhood of Balashikha, near Moscow, according to the local Telegram channel “Balashikha Rules” and Shot. A powerful explosion rocked the area just as the driver got into a BMW X3 and began pulling out of the parking lot, according to a video published by the Ukrainian monitoring channel Exilenova+. The driver was pulled alive from the burning car, but could not be saved. It is unknown who exactly was behind the wheel.
The Investigative Committee confirmed the car explosion in Balashikha. “The driver of the vehicle sustained multiple injuries and died at the scene,” the agency noted. A criminal case has been opened in connection with the incident. The Aviators neighborhood in Balashikha is also known as “Tridtsatyi.” It consists of 24 prefabricated apartment buildings, constructed primarily for military personnel and their families. The car exploded on Koldunova Street, near building No. 10. It dates back to the first phase of the neighborhood’s development, when apartments in high-rise buildings were allocated exclusively through the Russian Ministry of Defense.
