Russian Strike On A Vessel In The Black Sea: India Summons Russian Ambassador

Four citizens of the country were killed in the attack.

India summoned Russia’s Chargé d’Affaires Vladimir Ladanov to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and expressed “serious concern” following a missile strike on a cargo ship in the Black Sea that was leaving a Ukrainian port.

According to a statement by the Indian Ministry of External Affairs, four Indian citizens were killed in the attack, reports Reuters.

India conveyed its serious concern to Ladanov and stated that attacks on commercial shipping resulting in civilian casualties are “unacceptable.”

“Such attacks undermine the security, safety, and stability of international maritime trade,” the Indian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

Russia did not respond to a request for comment from Reuters.

As previously reported by the website Charter97.org, On July 19, Russia launched three cruise missiles at the Golden Leo, a vessel flying the flag of Guinea-Bissau, which had a crew from India and Syria on board. Ten people were killed in the attack, including four Indian citizens.
