Ukraine's Foreign Intelligence Service: Three Countries Have Taken Diplomatic Action Against The Kremlin

They were considered partners of the Russian Federation.

Russia continues to face deteriorating relations even with countries that were previously considered its partners. Over the past ten days, three countries—India, Azerbaijan, and Botswana—have expressed official dissatisfaction to Moscow on various grounds.

This was reported by the Foreign Intelligence Service of Ukraine.

According to the SVR, India lodged a diplomatic protest following the strike on the dry cargo ship MV Golden Leo near Odesa. Four Indian citizens were killed in the attack. New Delhi expressed dissatisfaction with Russia’s actions, emphasizing that the incident could negatively impact relations between the two countries, which have traditionally maintained close political and economic cooperation.

Ukrainian intelligence believes that such events limit Moscow’s diplomatic options within the framework of the Kremlin’s proclaimed “pivot to the East.”

Another diplomatic protest followed from Azerbaijan. Baku demanded an investigation into the attack on a facility belonging to the state-owned oil company SOCAR in the Mykolaiv region. In addition, Azerbaijani authorities announced their readiness to completely replace Russian energy resources on the European oil and gas market.

The Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) notes that this stance indicates a weakening of Russia’s status as a reliable energy partner and a further decline in its influence on the European market.

The third diplomatic signal, according to intelligence reports, came from Africa. The Botswana authorities condemned the increasing number of cases of fraudulent recruitment of Botswana citizens to fight on Russia’s side in the war against Ukraine.

According to the SVR’s assessment, this statement not only constitutes yet another accusation against Moscow of violating international law but also points to a shortage of personnel in the Russian occupation forces.

Ukrainian intelligence emphasized that the Kremlin’s aggressive policy is increasingly complicating Russia’s relations with foreign states. According to the agency, an increasing number of countries are choosing to distance themselves from Moscow, considering further cooperation with it to be politically and reputationally toxic.
