They puncture the gas tanks of parked cars and siphon off the fuel.
Across Russia, gasoline is being siphoned from parked cars.
Due to the fuel crisis, the “wild ’90s”—which Putin’s propagandists love to use as a scare tactic—have returned overnight. It has become dangerous to leave a car with a full tank on the street.
To get their hands on gasoline, thieves are drilling holes in gas tanks, cutting off fuel lines, and prying open fuel caps, as noted by "Govorit NeMoscow".
The fuel crisis in Russia is unfolding gradually: the border regions and southern regions of the Russian Federation—in particular Belgorod, Bryansk, Kursk, and Rostov regions, as well as occupied Crimea and other territories seized by the enemy.
On June 22, it was reported that six regions of Russia had imposed restrictions on the sale of gasoline and diesel fuel amid a fuel crisis. According to Russian media reports, the shortage is linked to the consequences of strikes against the Russian Federation’s oil refining and transportation infrastructure.
