Romania Shot Down Two Russian Drones

Video Fact.

On Tuesday, the Romanian military shot down two “Gerbera”-type drones detected in the country’s exclusive economic zone near the Neptun Deep gas field in the Black Sea.

This was reported on August 11 on Facebook on August 11, Romania’s acting Minister of Defense Radu Miruță.

The drones were spotted more than 166 km east of Constanța—they were detected by the crew of a vessel operating near the platform. A coast guard vessel with bomb disposal experts was immediately dispatched to the scene.
The Romanian side contacted its Ukrainian partners regarding the origin of the drones—according to Miruță, Ukraine confirmed that these systems do not belong to it. In addition to the drones themselves, additional debris of unknown origin was found in the water.
To eliminate risks to vessels and personnel operating in the Neptun Deep area, a decision was made to destroy the drones via a controlled detonation.
