Medvedev Called Russians Who Oppose The War "fools"

Anti-war sentiment is increasingly irritating the Kremlin.

Russian youth are speaking out against the war in Ukraine due to their foolishness and “distorted” thinking, said Dmitry Medvedev, deputy head of the Russian Security Council , during a meeting of the “United Russia” council to develop a new “people’s program,” reports The Moscow Times.

“Where do these people with such completely warped minds come from? Mainly simply because they don’t understand what they’re doing. Well, there are, of course, die-hard scoundrels, but I think there aren’t that many of them. It’s more a matter of stupidity and thoughtlessness,” TASS quotes Medvedev as saying. He added that “United Russia” should “work closely” with those who express such views.

Medvedev also touched on the possible outcome of the “special military operation.” According to him, the war will end or be suspended only after the Kremlin’s demands are met. These demands include, among other things, the complete withdrawal of Ukrainian troops from all occupied territories of Ukraine. Russia’s relations with the West will change little “with the cessation or suspension of the ‘special military operation’ in one form or another,” stated the deputy chairman of the Security Council: “Sooner or later, this will naturally happen, and, naturally, I assume it will be on our terms.” Medvedev also called on those participating in the aggression to more actively share their “feats” with schoolchildren and compared the “heroes of the special military operation” to veterans of the Great Patriotic War.

He noted that the “special military operation” fighters who are now visiting schools are quite young, unlike the veterans of the Soviet-German War, who used to tell students stories from the front lines. “And so it seems to me that it’s very important for them to simply visit schools. I think it’s actually important for them, too. Even just to share some of their experiences, because we understand all the problems that arise after returning from the front,” Medvedev said. He emphasized that organizing such lessons is “definitely a task for the party,” including for the future, which, according to the deputy chairman of the Security Council, “will, of course, be challenging.”
