The Ukrainian Armed Forces Struck Four Russian Warships In Novorossiysk

On the night of August 12, the Ukrainian Defense Forces launched a large-scale strike on Novorossiysk, targeting the grain and fuel oil terminals of the Bread Products Complex (NKH), the “Sheshkharis” oil export terminal, and facilities at the Russian Black Sea Fleet base. OSINT analysts are calling this attack one of the most successful strikes ever against one of Russia’s most heavily defended cities.

This was reported on Wednesday, August 12, by the Ukrainian OSINT project “CyberBoroshno”.

Numerous instances of damage to grain storage facilities and transportation infrastructure—particularly grain elevators—have been documented on the grounds of the NKHP grain terminal.

NKHP is one of the three main grain terminals in Novorossiysk. According to analysts’ estimates, about 12% of Russia’s grain exports pass through it. The other two major terminals—NZT and KSK—remain undamaged, according to satellite imagery. Collectively, these three terminals account for about 40% of Russia’s grain exports, while about 80% of such exports pass through the Azov-Black Sea basin.

OSINT analysts also reported probable damage to ships and vessels at the Russian Federation’s naval base in Novorossiysk.

Specifically, these are the Project 11356R frigates *Admiral Makarov* and *Admiral Essen*. Both ships have sustained damage in the area of their “Kalibr” cruise missile launchers. Each of these frigates has eight launch cells.

Also, according to CyberBoroshno, the Project 266M minesweeper, the Project 20360 prototype vessel “Viktor Cherokov,” a Project 22160 patrol ship, the Project 864 reconnaissance ship “Priazovye,” and an unidentified dry cargo ship.

Several strikes on the ground infrastructure of the 4th Submarine Brigade were recorded within the base.

Analysts note that the attack demonstrates the vulnerability of the Russian Black Sea Fleet even within the confines of its main base in Novorossiysk. According to their assessment, further strikes could gradually reduce the number of combat-ready Russian ships.

The “Sheshkharis” oil export terminal was also targeted. Damage was reported to its main berths, specifically Berth No. 1, which is used to service large Aframax- and Suezmax-class tankers.

An Aframax-class tanker that was being loaded was likely hit during the attack. Satellite images show signs of fire, a significant amount of firefighting foam, and oil slicks on the water.

Thus, according to OSINT analysts, Ukrainian forces simultaneously struck both military and critical port infrastructure in Novorossiysk during a single attack.
