It Has Been Announced Which City Will Host The 2027 Eurovision Song Contest

Next year, the Eurovision Song Contest will have new rules regarding countries at war. This was announced by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU), according to UNIAN.
“Following the EBU’s annual review of the Eurovision Song Contest, the event’s governing body, the Reference Group, approved a number of changes and clarifications to the Rules for next year’s contest in Bulgaria. The updates were made in response to feedback from participants following the 2026 contest in Vienna and are intended to provide greater clarity for all participants, including artists and production staff. They also strengthen protections for young artists and ensure that “Eurovision” can always take place in a safe and secure location.”
Thus, under the new rules, it is officially prohibited to hold the song contest in winning countries where there is a war or a complex “geopolitical situation.” If necessary, the EBU may commission an independent security assessment of the country that will be awarded the right to host the contest the following year.
“The designated broadcaster will assume all rights, obligations, and responsibilities related to hosting the contest, including responsibility for organizing, producing, and conducting the event. The broadcaster will host the contest independently and will not be required to host the event on behalf of another member,” the statement reads.
Incidentally, it has also been announced which city will host the contest in 2027. It will be Burgas. The semifinals will take place on May 11 and 13, and the final on May 15.
