Moscow has reason to fear the sky.
This year, Ukraine has intensified its attacks on Russia, using long-range missiles and swarms of drones targeting the military-industrial complex and energy facilities. Kyiv has also been increasingly striking the massive “Wildberries” warehouses, destroying billions of dollars’ worth of goods belonging to the Russian e-commerce giant. This is reported by The Washington Post.
“These attacks reminded the Russian public of the war nearly 4.5 years after Moscow’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine began. The scale of the attacks also forced the Russian armed forces to expand their air defense coverage, disrupted airport operations, caused fuel shortages, and undermined morale in Russia,” the article analyzes.
In particular, the commander of the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ 413th Unmanned Systems Regiment “Raid,” Yevhen Karas stated that his unit also participated in the strike on the “Wildberries” warehouse, located approximately 45 km south of Moscow, as part of one of Ukraine’s largest attacks on Russia to date.
“Ukraine must punish the Kremlin if we want to achieve a stable and lasting peace—a normal peace. The more losses they suffer, the faster they will agree to peace,” the military official emphasized.
Karas believes that the impact of Ukrainian strikes on the Russian economy is helping ordinary Russians understand the cost of war. He also hopes that this will force Moscow to return to the negotiating table after months of U.S.-mediated talks between the two sides reached an impasse.
According to the commander, at this stage of the war Moscow should fear the sky.
“Muscovites should spend their nights in their wonderful metro, just as the residents of Kyiv have been hiding underground for years to avoid Russian missile and drone attacks,” the defender added.
