He will meet with Lukashenko tomorrow.
The head of Myanmar’s junta, Min Aung Hlaing, arrived in Belarus on an official visit. He was met at the airport by Deputy Prime Minister Viktor Karankevich, who oversees the industrial sector.
In addition to him, representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the “Bellegprom” concern, and other agencies came to welcome the guest.
Talks with Alexander Lukashenko are scheduled for tomorrow, and today the junta leader will take part in a business forum.
Ming Aung Hlaing visited Belarus in March 2025. The opposition publication Mizzima News Media reported that he negotiated with Lukashenko regarding arms deliveries.
As a reminder, on February 2, 2021, a military coup took place in Myanmar under the leadership of Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, sparking mass protests that escalated into a civil war. Power passed to a military junta.
According to estimates by Armed Conflict Location & Event Data, as of June 24, 2022, a total of about 21,000 people had been killed as a result of the violence following the coup.
In Myanmar, as in Belarus, there is a procedure for revoking citizenship. Furthermore, Myanmar and Belarus are the only countries regarding which the International Labor Organization has adopted a resolution invoking Article 33 of its Constitution, thereby calling on the international community to review its relations with their governments.
