A Ship Heading For Novorossiysk Was Struck By A UAV In The Black Sea

The ship and its cargo have been lost.

In the Black Sea, a drone attacked the container ship RMS Team, which was sailing from Gemlik, Turkey, to Novorossiysk, Russia. This was reported on August 21 by the Russian Z-Channel “Two Majors,” which published a statement from the Turkish shipping company Akkon Lines.

A fire broke out on board the ship after the strike. The crew was forced to evacuate. A nearby vessel responded to the distress signal and rescued 11 crew members. One person is still listed as missing and is presumed dead.

According to Akkon Lines, the fire broke out in the living quarters and the engine room, after which it spread to the containers. The vessel and its cargo are considered a total loss.

It is not yet known what cargo the RMS Team was carrying.
