Security forces announced that they had uncovered the fraudsters' communication hubs.
In Belarus, law enforcement officials have identified individuals who organized the operation of SIM banks and GSM gateways. Investigators believe the equipment may have been used by fraudulent call centers, according to the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
According to the ministry, the suspects were found in several regions of the country. They set up the equipment in their homes and operated it. The interconnected devices could be controlled via the Internet using foreign servers.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Investigative Committee reported that several such communication nodes had been shut down. During the operation, more than 30 pieces of equipment and over 20,000 SIM cards were seized.
The Investigative Committee specified that, starting in 2024, three men aged 19 to 30 from the Minsk, Mogilev, and Gomel regions had turned their apartments into technical centers. According to investigators, the infrastructure they created allowed them to remotely control thousands of SIM cards.
Through these channels, fraudulent call centers made mass calls to citizens in an attempt to steal their money. In addition, investigators claim that the infrastructure could have been used for activities that posed a threat to the national security and stability of Belarus and the Union State.
