Gasoline Has Run Out In Gelendzhik, Russia

Successful strikes by the Ukrainian Armed Forces left the Russians without fuel.

At most gas stations in Gelendzhik on Friday, August 21, gasoline ran out. This was reported by the press service of the city administration of the Russian city. According to the authorities, almost all operating gas stations in the resort are selling only diesel fuel, and some stations are dispensing it only with fuel cards. The only exception is the gas station in the village of Arkhipo-Osipovka, where AI-92, AI-95, and diesel are still available, according to The Moscow Times.

The day before, restrictions on gasoline sales were introduced in St. Petersburg. Gazprom Neft reinstated the 60-liter limit per receipt (which had been lifted on August 4) and prohibited customers from filling more than one canister. “Tatneft” set a limit of 50 liters for AI-95 and AI-92. According to Gazprom Neft’s map, AI-95 was unavailable at many of the company’s gas stations, and the “GdeBENZ” service also reported shortages at Lukoil stations. Restrictions had also been introduced in Moscow the day before. There, Gazprom Neft limited gasoline and diesel sales to 40 liters per vehicle, while Tatneft capped them at 50 and 60 liters, respectively. AI-95 was available at only one “Neftmagistrali” gas station, while AI-92 and diesel fuel were available at only two Lukoil stations.

An employee of Rosneft’s hotline reported that at all of the company’s gas stations in the capital, the limit on gasoline is 30 liters per vehicle, with no limits on diesel, and wait times have increased due to panic buying. Meanwhile, disruptions were already being reported in Moscow and the surrounding region last week—lines and shortages arose following another series of attacks on oil refineries, which resulted in at least four major plants being taken out of service in August alone.

A second wave of fuel shortages is also being reported in other cities. According to “GdeBENZ,” as of August 16, gasoline or diesel was available at only 28.1% of gas stations nationwide (compared to 41% a week earlier). In recent days, shortages have been reported in the Astrakhan, Volgograd, Irkutsk, Chelyabinsk, Orenburg, Voronezh, Samara, Penza, Saratov, Lipetsk, and Rostov regions, as well as in Tatarstan.
