What is known about the Russian “Banderol” drones
“Banderol” drones are a hybrid of a small-sized winged missile and a jet-powered strike drone. It can reach speeds of up to 650 kilometers per hour and is capable of overloading air defense systems.
This drone has a range of 500 kilometers and can carry up to 50 kilograms of explosives.
Ukraine’s air defense forces have repeatedly stated that the main danger posed by the “Banderole” drones is that their jet engine and high speed make them difficult for mobile units to intercept.
More sophisticated anti-aircraft systems are required to shoot down this type of drone.
In addition, these drone missiles have a large fragmentation blast radius.
There are at least two known cases where “Banderole” drones flew into Moldovan territory.
There are at least two known instances in which “Banderola” drones entered Moldovan territory. In one instance, it struck a tree, but the blast wave severely damaged private structures in one of the settlements. Following this incident, Chisinau recalled its ambassador from Russia.
