"Flamingo" Attacks: Zelenskyy Sparks Speculation With Statement On Strikes Against Russia

"The Bird" is planning to "spend the winter" in Russia.

The defense-industrial complex plays a key role in safeguarding Ukraine’s independence. This was stated in an address to Ukraine’s Independence Day stated President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

He noted that the Ukrainian Armed Forces are already receiving millions of FPV drones and munitions, as well as tens of thousands of ground robots, maritime drones, and long-range weapons, thanks to domestic production.

Ukraine plans to ramp up its own production

Zelenskyy noted that among Ukraine’s arsenal are FP-5 “Flamingo” cruise missiles, which are set to become a mass-produced weapon and strike military targets more frequently in the aggressor country—Russia.

“The ‘Flamingo’ should not be a rare species, but a common ‘bird.’ They should ‘winter’ in Russia,” the head of state emphasized.

When will Ukraine be able to ramp up production of “Flamingo” missiles

According to Fire Point CEO Irina Terekh, as of early August, the company had not yet managed to reach the previously announced production volume—at least seven missiles—due to an insufficient number of orders.

She explained that the delay in receiving funding under the European Union’s loan program has affected the volume of contracts, forcing the company to reduce production rates below its maximum capacity.

However, the company expects to increase production to the planned level by the end of this year or early next year. The timeline will depend on the receipt of new contracts.
