Trump Announced That The Strait Of Hormuz Had Been Completely Cleared Of Mines

The U.S. president also threatened Iran should it lay new mines.

The U.S. Navy has neutralized all mines in the waters of the Strait of Hormuz. This was reported by U.S. President Donald Trump on Truth Social.

“Iran has been notified that any ship or boat laying new mines will be immediately and systematically destroyed... Our zero-tolerance policy toward mine laying is fully in effect,” Mr. Trump wrote.

The U.S. president added that the United States is monitoring movements in the strait using space-based assets. Surveillance is also being conducted on Mount Kirk, where, according to the U.S., Iran is enriching uranium residues. U.S. forces are also monitoring the three destroyed nuclear facilities.

Reports that Iran had begun laying mines in the Strait of Hormuz emerged in early March. Iran blocked the maritime corridor in response to the U.S.-Israeli operation. The Washington Post reported that the Pentagon had predicted the Strait of Hormuz would be completely cleared of mines within six months.
