The mayor of Sochi Andrei Proshunin posted a video on his Telegram channel of a meeting with the parents of Aik Roganian, a soldier who died in Ukraine. He presented them with the Order of Courage, which Vladimir Putin had posthumously awarded to the soldier.

“The pain of loss, of course, cannot be alleviated by anything. But nevertheless, he deserved it,” Proshunin said as he presented the medal to the soldier’s mother.

After that, the mayor shook hands with the soldier’s father and added: “From the bottom of my heart. Congratulations. Thank you very much for your son.”

Proshunin also assured the fallen soldier’s parents that his memory would be preserved in Sochi, just as “the memory of all the heroes who give their lives to defend our homeland” is preserved. In addition, the mayor promised the Roganian family help and support, emphasizing: “We are always here for you.”
