Audi is preparing a new generation of the compact A3, which is expected to help the German brand regain its former reputation for interior quality. The company intends to focus on materials, physical controls, and tactile sensations rather than an endless increase in the number of screens, according to Motor1.

Following the discontinuation of the A1 and Q2, the A3 effectively remains Audi’s base model with an internal combustion engine. At the same time, the company has abandoned its plans to fully transition to electric vehicles by 2032, so the future A3 may still offer a gasoline version.

Audi’s Chief Technical Officer Ruwen Mor stated that new technologies from the brand’s high-end models will also be used in mass-market vehicles. “You’ll be surprised at how many elements you’ll find in so-called standard cars—from materials to mechanical feedback and the round steering wheel,” he said.

Audi doesn’t need to reinvent the A3. The brand simply needs to restore the qualities that once made it special: high-quality materials, user-friendly buttons, and the feel of a higher-class vehicle.
