Unidentified Drones Were Spotted Over A Bundeswehr Base In Germany

Six spans have been recorded.

In Germany, on the night of August 7, two suspicious drones were spotted in the town of Mechernich, southwest of Bonn, as they flew over a Bundeswehr base. This was reported by WDR, NDR, and the Süddeutsche Zeitung, citing a police report.

The drones were spotted by base security, after which officers from the Oiskirchen district police arrived at the scene. They recorded six drone flights over the base. One of the drones circled the police officers several times.

According to preliminary data, the drones flying over the base were of the Fly-380 VTOL type, with a range of up to 400 kilometers. Drones of this type can reach speeds of up to 150 kilometers per hour.

A spokesperson for the Bundeswehr’s Operational Command confirmed to reporters that drones had been detected over the base.

Deutsche Welle reports that the base in Mechernich is crucial for Germany’s logistics. A logistics warehouse is located in a secure underground facility 130 meters below ground. Equipment and spare parts for military vehicles are stored there. Bundeswehr specialists also work at this base, responsible for the maintenance and repair of American Patriot air defense missile systems.
