Ukraine Has Imposed Special Measures Along Its Border With Belarus

Special rules will be in effect for the duration of martial law.

Ukraine has introduced special border controls in a one-kilometer-wide strip along its state border with Russia and Belarus. The new rules impose a number of restrictions on people’s presence and work in this zone.

This was reported by reported by the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine.

The State Border Guard Service explained that the decision was made to strengthen Ukraine’s defense capabilities amid ongoing Russian aggression. Among other things, border guards point to the risk of Belarusian territory being used to destabilize the situation in border regions, conduct intelligence and sabotage operations, and pose threats to Ukraine’s national interests.

At the same time, the new regime imposes specific restrictions on people within a designated zone.

Specifically, within a one-kilometer strip, individuals are prohibited from freely entering, staying, residing, or moving about. Furthermore, no work unrelated to repelling armed aggression against Ukraine, national defense, or the protection of the state border may be carried out there.

The State Border Guard Service noted that the restrictions apply to all land plots located within the designated one-kilometer zone along the state border.

However, this special regime is not permanent. The Border Guard Service noted that the restrictions are temporary and will remain in effect only for as long as martial law remains in force.
