Poland Scrambled Fighter Jets In Response To Russia's Attack On Ukraine

The airports in Rzeszów and Lublin have suspended operations.

On the morning of September 18, the Polish military scrambled fighter jets amid yet another massive Russian attack on Ukraine. Due to the deployment of military aircraft, the airports in Lublin and Rzeszów temporarily suspended operations, according to Polish Air Navigation Services.

The Operational Command of the Polish Armed Forces announced the commencement of military aviation operations in Polish airspace in response to Russian strikes on Ukraine.

Ground-based air defense and radar reconnaissance systems have also been placed on alert. The command emphasized that the measures are preventive in nature and aimed at protecting Polish airspace, particularly in areas near combat zones.

The Polish Civil Aviation Authority reported a temporary suspension of flight operations at the airports in Lublin and Rzeszów due to military aviation activity.

Poland had already imposed similar restrictions during previous Russian attacks on western regions of Ukraine. Specifically, on September 16, operations at the two airports were also temporarily suspended for the duration of military operations.
