The legendary race car driver and the legendary supercar have finally reunited.
Seven-time Formula 1 champion Lewis Hamilton has finally purchased the car he’s long dreamed of—the legendary Ferrari F40. The sports car sat in a garage for more than 30 years before its new owner sent it to Maranello for a complete restoration, according to Motor1.
Hamilton sold his entire car collection last year, but the F40 was always an exception. Now the car looks practically brand-new again after a complete restoration at the Ferrari factory.

Later, the Briton said he would like to work with Ferrari to create a modern version of the F40. He even came up with the name F44 in honor of his race number: “I want to develop a Ferrari. I want to build an F44. It would be based on the F40, but keep a real manual transmission.”
Hamilton has not disclosed the purchase price of the car. Meanwhile, in April, another Ferrari F40 with just 1,799 kilometers on the odometer was sold at a Sotheby’s auction for 4.3 million euros.
