The French president called for steadfastness in the wake of the protesters' declaration of a "general mobilization."

Emmanuel Macron is convening a Security Council meeting at the Élysée Palace on the morning of Thursday, October 22, a few days before a new wave of “general mobilization” in France.

This was reported by Le Monde.

The French president summoned all intelligence agencies to the Élysée Palace, accusing them of misjudging the scale of the October 17 protests. Macron, in particular, called for firmness: “The hand of the head of state must not waver,” he warned.

The security plan ahead of the resumption of mass protests on Saturday, October 24, is to be announced by Interior Minister Laurent Nunez on Thursday.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu is scheduled to meet with political party leaders on October 22. Representatives of the far-left and far-right have already announced that they will not attend the meeting.

Earlier, Sébastien Lecornu stated that, in connection with the protests planned for Saturday, the authorities are preparing “large-scale” security measures.
