The actor is confident that the merger of Paramount and Warner Bros. will revitalize the film industry.

Tom Cruise has endorsed Paramount's plan to increase film production and releases to 30 movies a year as part of its merger with Warner Bros. Discovery. The actor said he thinks it’s a great idea and called on all of Hollywood to help make it happen, according to Deadline.

“I think it’s amazing,” Cruise said, commenting on the promise by Paramount CEO David Ellison to significantly increase the number of films produced.

According to the actor, it’s not just about business. Cruise called Hollywood a community and compared studio employees to his own family.

“They’re going to release 30 movies. I know we’ll get those 30 films,” he said.

At the same time, Cruise emphasized that Paramount won’t be able to handle such a task on its own. In his view, reviving the film industry will require the participation of actors, directors, screenwriters, and other industry professionals.

“We all need to come together as a community and help create these 30 films,” Cruise urged.

The support from one of Hollywood’s most famous actors came amid ongoing legal proceedings surrounding the $111 billion deal. A group of attorneys general from several U.S. states opposes the agreement and is challenging its terms in an antitrust case.
